A short stay in Tokyo is now over... Tokyo is big as it's always been with lots of people all over. An interesting visit like last time. A lot to write about but with this sleepy head all I can do is to write as I think...
The hotel was fine in the middle of the capital. An interesting conversation with Austrian couple there. They said to me it was hard to get around as people speak very little English in town. It was no complaint but just how they actually felt. Not an offence either, I found out later. Some Malaysians spoke to us at a station to ask for directions; they were on the way to Chiba. A film called Lost in Translation was popular several years back but I never got it for some reason, by the way.
Sakura was waiting for us there. Impressively beautiful! I can smell and feel the spring. Had expected it'd be balmy and it was. Putting on and taking off my jacket all the time... a little chilly after dark though.
People we met with work for Japan's Ministry of Defense, low and high ranking people. A spokesman from there really struck me in many ways. It was clear to all of us that he was in love with his job. Another person was also great. The way he does things, says things, organises things etc. I once heard somewhere that those who do small things well also do big things well as well. I had no chance to see this person doing big things but still I'm fully confident that he'll do a lot of things great.
Have to stop here. Can't go any more...
Next week, 'back to London'. Need to get plenty of sleep.
end
