Dear M,

I was just eating supper and watched the news about the vessels. If you were here, you would realise that there is absolutely nothing negative broadcast about Somalia. The news is all about the pirates and a Japanese ship which was severely damaged before by the pirates.

There is very little mention of Somalia as a country; in the first place, as I wrote in the articles for you, people here do not know where it is...

Several opposition parties are against the dispatch.

I am not sure if this is what you want to hear...

Dear Y,
It was good to hear from you . It takes a short note written in the middle of the night to make you respond to my e-mails!! However, our country is torn apart by Islamic terrorist and sea piracy fueled by selfish foreign fishing companies who scarp the ocean floor of our seas. This is in addition to dumping toxic waste in our shores after bribing War Lords and greedy leaders.

Have a nice week end.

Regards,
M

PS There is no samurai any more, by the way. They don't exist except in movies (neither do ninja)... it's a pity that I know as little about samurai as you do haha! This is my impression that probably some non-Japanese talk and dream far too much about samurai and ninja, while almost all Japanese never even mention them! It's just like non-British still associating the UK with the times of 'Wars of the Roses! I can see your disappointment but tend to think you could have written your e-mail in some other way; that way, it wouldn't cause unnecessary feelings between us.

Dear Y,
I do apologize for the offensive message. However, I have always trusted you and never thought that you would take it serious. It has been one of those party nights and the computer was so close to me that when I read about the Japanese ships, I got emotional..

Lots of my friends have liked your articles about the Somalis and Somalia and I have explained to them that you could one day become the Ambassador for Japan in Somaliland... Enjoy the week end.

Regards,
M

Dear M,

No problem. I believe we just exchanged our thoughts. I miss doing this kind of thing.... I should not be complaining but here in Japan, discussions are not very much encouraged even if they are productive. This sometimes gets me frustrated!!! No worries, In any case I hope I am still myself that you have know for years.

As for the war ship issue, there is some coverage of it in today's morning paper. However, we are more concerned about North Korea which internationally announced its plan to launch, in April, a ballistic missile that they call a communications satellite (I wonder if they have the scientific, financial, and technological capacities to make one). In 2001 and 2007 they launched several missiles that flew over Japan and fell into the Pacific Ocean. Visit the site below:

Regarding Somaliland, I will contribute a few more articles once I get several outstanding issues sorted.. It's good you and I stay in touch this way.

Have a good weekend,
Y

そういうことだ。

今日は作業してジムに行って、その後事務をして、最後に打ち合わせ…。Keep your fingers crossed!!!

ところで英語関連のreference booksが欲しいなぁ。でも高いんだよな…。座右の書になるなら良いのかなぁ。良いよ!と言って欲しい感じだな。背中を押して欲しいから相談するんじゃないのかな、人って。どうだろう。
