The weather's been pleasant!
Yesterday I attended a seminar at a college a little off of the city centre. That was a seminar co-organised by the college, UNU and a few others. The main theme of it was education, human rights etc. I personally feel these're buzz words still but are (should be) becoming clichés; too many people talk about these as if they knew best... very uncomfotable to be around them. I'd kept myself away from this all so during the seminar I remembered all the 'talks' over all these concepts that had brought about nothing at all.
Now I question myself as to why I've become quite critical (in a positive way, I hope) about all that despite the fact that I once had a blind and naive belief that those who are aware of those issues can and should play the key role in changing things for a better world but I do know that that'll never be the case. I've seen all the failures and limitations of it all first hand and so I've realised the importance of considering issues at the grassroots level in the global context. Therefore any one-sided focus, to me, seems to lack neutrality and a reasonable balance.
In any case the seminar was worth attending in a number of ways and above all in the sense that I realised I'm not what I once was.
