This time I purposely carried a little notebook with me in town to take notes of things that interested me. Before I forget these I think I should put them down in words properly here. This way I'm hoping to interpret and wrap up what I saw there.
In the previous post I wrote London's changed so much. It certainly has. No doubt about this. Probably one of the changes is to do with security in the city. Some Brits told me the deterioration of the city's security is because of those people from those new 'European countries' pouring into the city. Maybe... Not sure. This Bulgarian guy working in a cafe I spoke to, by the way, told me he didn't like people of other origins, esp Africans and South Asians. This tention on the racial ground may well become a serious issue some day. Anyway the busy places in town have definitely become busier, that's for sure.
At and around a station very familiar to me, two guys looking desperate spoke to me. Guy #1 in a gentle way and guy #2 in a rather straightforward way but both asking for money, which never happened before. #1 even stopped me walking and began to tell me about what had happened to his gf; she'd had her bag snatched. He then said she was on the other side of the road asking passers-by for money to get back home and that he was doing the same on this side of the road. Felt sorry but I sensed somehow that he was telling a lie and so said good luck and left him there. Guy #2 just showed his palm with a quid on it saying he needed another to ride his bus, which was pretty abrupt and I walked away.
Around the city the amount of publicity against violence and suspicious activity seems to have increased... what does this mean, I don't know... just wonder how the city will cope with all this...
Being a member of the station staff seems hard...
...because even a female staff member can get a punch in her face (see the bruise below)
... and you also need to watch out!
