Japonya (Japan in Turkish)

最近学会のために日本を訪れた、ベトナム在住のトルコ人研究者からのメール…。

**************

Merhaba arkadaş (Hello friend),

I have seen Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Kobe. I have negative views about Japan, I am not willing to come to Japan again.

People are unfriendly, they don't look at each other on the streets, life is very expensive, I have seen thousands of homeless people, cities are gray and ugly, architecture is non-artistic, all the train stations look like each other even Kyoto's. I have taken 80 pages of notes on Japan. I can tell you more and more. I heard that Sapporo was very beautiful unlike ugly Japanese cities.

I didn't like the young generation. They are mere consumers. They waste their time in pachinko, karaoke and baseball. Also Japan is very monoculture.

After I have seen Japan I appreciated Vietnam and Australia. I wonder whether you would be shocked by my comments on Japan. But as you are a Japanese who had lived in Istanbul, my complaints may be more comprehensible for you.

By the way, I had drunk Sapporo Beer on all the nights. I liked it.

I have taken many photos about unseen Japan that is not known by tourists. Probably I will have a photo exhibition here in Vietnam.

Hoşçakal dostum (Take care),
Ulas

どうだろう。けっこう頷けるところがあると思う。日本人がどうにかしなければならないが、個人の力ではどうにもなるまい。
